Leveling Up for the Future: Spring 2026 Game Changer’s Conference
Students and guardians from 41 MCPS schools came together for the Spring 2026 Game Changer’s Conference held at Montgomery College’s Germantown campus. Hosted by Unity Christian Fellowship, Inc., which is celebrating 20 years of service to the community, the conference provided an inspiring morning of leadership, learning and community connection for male students in Grades 4–12. MCPS’ Chief Equity and Development Officer Dr. Nyah Hamlett provided welcoming remarks and the conference also featured sessions designed to support families, which were supported by over 40 volunteers.

This year’s theme, "Be Future Ready, Inspire Change and Leveling Up is a Game Changer!", built upon the fall’s “Future Ready: Level Up!” theme, by continuing to challenge students to prepare for success in a rapidly changing world.
“‘Inspire Change and Leveling Up is a Game Changer’ encourages students to view themselves as active competitors in the game of life—where effort, strategy and perseverance are key to achieving their goals,” said Jason Miller, Teacher at Benjamin Banneker Middle School and member of the Game Changer Leadership Committee.
Students were invited to submit a 300-word essay reflecting on the theme. The winners in each age division are:
- Elementary School: Christian Marshall, Olney Elementary School
- Middle School: Favor Daye, Rocky Hill Middle School
- High School: Herman Harrison, Seneca Valley High School
Looking ahead, the next Game Changers Conference will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
