The Office of Human Resources and Development at Montgomery County Public Schools conducts fingerprint background checks for individuals applying for employment or those wanting to serve as contractors, volunteers, chaperones, coaches, advisors, student teachers, or interns. These background checks are critical for ensuring a safe and secure learning, and working environment.

Ensuring Student Safety: Background Check Requirements

At Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), our top priority is maintaining a safe and secure environment for every student and staff member. To uphold this commitment, the Office of Human Resources and Development conducts mandatory fingerprint background checks for all individuals interacting with our school community.

Montgomery County Public Schools participates in E-Verify to confirm the employment eligibility of newly hired employees. Please review the E-Verify Participation and Right to Work notices for more information.

These screenings are a critical step in our safety protocols. They help us ensure that all adults working or volunteering in our buildings meet the high standards of safety required to protect our learning and working environments.
