Poolesville Student Honored As Maryland State SMOB Finalist

Lorena Wu, a sophomore at Poolesville High School, has been selected as one of two finalists for the Student Member of the Maryland State Board of Education. The other finalist is from Eastern Technical High School in Baltimore County. 

Student leaders from across the state attended the Maryland Association of Student Councils Legislative Session on Jan. 24 to participate in leadership development workshops and participate in the election of the two finalists.

In April, Governor Wes Moore will select one of these two finalists to serve on the Maryland Board of Education for the 2026-2027 school year.
