An MCPS principal and high school student were recently honored during the 25th anniversary of Action in Montgomery (AIM).

  • Stacy Ashton is principal at Burnt Mills Elementary School and an AIM board member. Dr. Ashton organized her school community to win the Excel Beyond the Bell after-school program for Burnt Mill, and helped expand it to 18 schools. She fosters a school culture grounded in care, understanding and community.
  • Sarah Insa Sadio, a junior at Albert Einstein High School, was AIM’s first-ever Youth Leadership Award. Sarah has testified multiple times before county and state officials to help win improvements to schools and recreation centers, and addressed climate change. Her selflessness and commitment to justice make her a role model for other young people.
