Summer RISE is an initiative led by Montgomery County Public Schools in collaboration with businesses, government agencies, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations. The program is for rising MCPS juniors and seniors to participate in a career-based learning opportunity during the summer. Students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning opportunities related to their field of interest. Click here to read more and apply.

Student Service Learning - February

All MCPS students must earn 75 SSL hours to graduate from high school. Middle school and high school students should continue earning SSL hours towards their SSL graduation requirement by engaging in SSL opportunities during the 2025-2026 school year. Attendance Matters!

Chronic absenteeism in MCPS is LOWER systemwide, but has increased in high schools. Read more here to learn about what chronic absenteeism is and how you can share the barriers to high school attendance.

Community Art Contests

There are several upcoming community art competitions and showcases available for student submissions. These include the Matt Papirmeister Award, the Women's Club of Bethesda, and other community calls for student work. Read here to learn more about each opportunity.

Counseling: Important College Updates

The Montgomery County Public Schools Counseling Department has many updates to share about upcoming Financial Aid workshops/events throughout the county for students and families to access. MCPS is also hosting the Annual HBCU College Fair on February 13, 2026. MCPS is also accepting Counselor of the Year nominations. You can view more information about the counseling items here.
