Aviation

The Aviation Center Program provides inspired students with a rigorous educational experience focused on aviation and engineering careers. The program prepares students for a wide range of postsecondary opportunities, including college and careers in the aviation and aerospace industries. By cultivating a culture of aviation and engineering excellence, students are supported in pursuing their aspirations while developing the skills needed to meet the growing demand for pilots and other aviation professionals.

Through hands‑on, experiential learning, students explore real‑world applications of aviation systems, aerodynamics, and engineering design. The program emphasizes both technical and academic preparation, equipping students with the knowledge, confidence, and problem‑solving skills required for success in aviation‑related fields.

 

Core Experiences

  • Earn FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (Federal Aviation Administration)

Program Goals

  1. Develop Foundational Knowledge and Skills: Equip students with a strong academic and technical foundation in aerodynamics, physics of flight,  navigation, and aviation safety. Emphasize critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning through STEM-integrated coursework that prepares students for both flight and engineering-related careers.
  2. Provide Hands-On, Real-World Experience: Engage students in experiential learning through flight simulators, drone operations, aircraft maintenance labs, and partnerships with local airports, flight schools, and aerospace organizations. Provide opportunities for students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world aviation systems, technology applications, and operational procedures.
  3. Foster College, Career, and/or Community Pathways: Support students in exploring and pursuing postsecondary education and careers in aviation, aerospace engineering, air traffic control, and transportation logistics. Provide a structured College Preparatory pathway for students to pursue next steps.
