Accelerated and Enriched Instruction Office

Montgomery County Public Schools is committed to providing rigorous instructional programs that encourage all students to realize their full potential as learners. A continuum of programs and services are provided.

Students’ learning may be enriched and accelerated; and, students may participate in advanced-level coursework at their local schools. Instruction is differentiated to provide all students appropriate pacing and support necessary for advanced-level learning.

Students may also attend special programs such as centers for enriched studies, magnet programs, or specialized programs, based on their interest and talent.

Enrichment Opportunities Webinar Series

Learn More About Enrichment, Acceleration, and Gifted Education

Families are invited to join the Accelerated and Enriched Instruction (AEI) Family Webinar Series this fall. The four-part virtual series will provide families with information and resources to better understand enrichment and acceleration opportunities, gifted and talented identification, the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), and parent advocacy. Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)

Students in grade 2 and students in grade 4 that are not currently identified as gifted and talented will take the CogAT on the following dates:

  • Grade 4 – December 7 – 9
  • Grade 2 – December 14-16
