Counseling Corner

In order to provide a comprehensive school counseling program to the students of Lois P. Rockwell, counseling services will be provided in various ways; classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, individual counseling, and advocacy/outreach.  As a school, we will be utilizing the Zones of Regulation curriculum to help our students understand and manage their emotions.  A summary of ZOR information can be found here.

Social-Emotional Learning

Students will receive ongoing social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons throughout the school year.  Each week, one grade level will have SEL with Mr. McMillen rather than their normally scheduled Media class.  SEL topics that will be covered this year include:

  • Introduction to Counseling
  • Personal Body Safety
  • Coping Skills
  • Being My Best Self
  • Valuing Each Other
  • Communicating with One Other
  • Learning from Each Other

Town Halls

Each month, we come together as a school to recognize, celebrate, and remind students of all the great things happening at Rockwell!  We highlight our ROCKY WAY and emphasize one character trait each month.  Two students in each class are recognized for being a great leader and demonstrating the trait of the month!
