Admissions Process
A. Mario Loiederman Magnet Middle School for the Creative and Performing Arts is part of the Middle School Magnet Consortium (MSMC), which includes Loiederman, Argyle, and Parkland middle schools.
Students Living Within the MSMC Area
Grade 5 students living within the Consortium area participate in the MSMC Choice process and rank their preferred schools. Students are then assigned to one of the three schools through a lottery process.
Students Living Outside the MSMC Area
Montgomery County students living outside the MSMC area may obtain a Choice form from any MCPS elementary school, the Middle School Magnet Consortium website, or by contacting the Department of Consortia and Application Program Services (DCAPS) at 240-740-2540.
Transportation
MCPS provides transportation for students who live within the Middle School Magnet Consortium area and reside more than 1.5 miles from their assigned MSMC school. The Consortium area includes families living in the attendance areas of the following elementary schools: Bel Pre, Brookhaven, Georgian Forest, Harmony Hills, Sargent Shriver, Strathmore, Viers Mill, Weller Road, and Wheaton Woods.
Students accepted from other areas of Montgomery County may be eligible for county transportation from designated bus stops at local MCPS schools. Bus stop locations are determined based on enrollment.
Loiederman also maintains a voluntary carpool database for families interested in connecting with other Loiederman families in their area. Families who choose to participate are responsible for making their own carpool arrangements.
