The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda opens its doors to all fifth grade students from Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in October for free student concerts.

On October 20th, our 5^th graders will be taking a trip to the Strathmore Music Center for a Blues concert.  This marking period in general music class, they are learning all about the Blues: from the history of the Blues, to the 12-Bar Blues progression, to Blues lyrics form, to famous Blues musicians, and more!  Students are also learning to play the 12-Bar Blues on instruments and will write their own lyrics to sing along with the accompaniment.  The concert, hosted in collaboration with MCPS and Strathmore, will feature an incredible band performing Blues standards and highlighting all that the 5^th graders are learning.  It is sure to be a wonderful experience for our Wildcat musicians!
