PSAT Day

When: Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 7:30 am - 12:00 pm

Where: Whole school event

Description:

On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Richard Montgomery High School will administer the PSAT free of charge to all Grade 10 students and registered Grade 11 students as part of MCPS’ PSAT School Day. PSAT testing day is an opportunity for all members of the Class of 2028 to take the PSAT during the school day at their local high school. We will have a modified bell schedule on October 15 to accommodate testing. Students not participating in a test administration will attend their regularly scheduled classes after the testing administration has concluded at 12:00 pm. A schedule is provided below. The Make-up Day for the PSAT is Thursday, October 23.

Members of Grades 9, 11 (non-testers), and 12 will participate in an extended Rocket Refresh period and will be expected to access their coursework until testing is completed and classes start for the day. Students will not need to report to their first period until 12:00 p.m. Buses will run on a regular schedule, so please consider your child’s transportation needs on this day. Some seniors may be invited to complete credit recovery work or student service learning opportunities.

Locations:

  • ALL 10th grade students and registered 11th grade students will take the PSAT and should report to their testing locations by 7:45 a.m. An email will be sent with testing location and information as we get closer to the testing date. Students should regularly check their mcpsmd.net email accounts. Read below for more details.
  • 9th graders (cafeteria), 11th graders not testing (room 165), and 12th graders (cafeteria) will report to assigned Rocket Refresh locations during the PSAT testing block. Some students will work on credit recovery courses or SSL projects required for graduation.  Classes will begin at 12:00 pm.

PSAT Testing Information:

Only students in their junior year will be considered for NMSQT scholarships through the College Board. For more information on NMSQT scholarships please visit the college boards website at https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt.

All students can participate in practice tests at https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/practice/practice-tests.

Technology Information for PSAT Test Takers

Students will be taking the PSAT using their school-issued chromebook. Students may not use a personal device. Students should be sure to bring their fully charged school issued chromebook and power cord to the testing location.  Calculators and other test taking tools are built into the testing platform for student use.

We will conduct a Digital Readiness Check through homeroom classes on October 8. Students will need their school issued Chromebooks to ensure the Bluebook Testing Application works, preview accommodations (if they receive them) for accuracy, and students can practice using the testing technology.

Wednesday, October 8 for PSAT Digital Readiness:

We will follow a modified homeroom schedule on October 8 to prep for PSAT Day.  All test takers will conduct their digital readiness check. All other students will participate in the weekly advisory lesson.

Please note: all students will go to the homeroom after 1st period.  An announcement will be made to remind everyone.

Student Data Questionnaire for Test Takers

Your child will have the opportunity to participate, with your consent, in the optional Student Data Questionnaire. The College Board gives students and families complete discretion regarding any voluntary information they provide as part of the Student Data Questionnaire. Information gathered is used for group reporting, for analysis to ensure that the exams are fair for all groups, to connect your child with potential colleges or scholarship opportunities, and for research. More on the optional questionnaire can be found on the College Board’s website.

To provide consent for your child to participate in the optional Student Data Questionnaire, you must complete the linked Google Form before October 3, 2025. Whether or not you consent for your child to participate in the optional Student Data Questionnaire, your child will still be able to participate in the PSAT School Day. This optional questionnaire will be part of the Digital Readiness Check on October 8.

More information will be forthcoming in terms of testing groups and logistical information as we approach the test administration.

If you have any further questions, please contact your child’s school counselor or our PSAT/SAT testing coordinator, Sara Baudry, at Sara_Baudry@mcpsmd.org.
