This Week's Current Events:
March is Women’s History Month. Throughout March, Ridgeview will take time to recognize the amazing lives and stories, both past and present, whose courage, leadership, and strength have helped shape our world and continue to inspire change within future generations.
- On Thursday, March 19th, there will be only two (2) activity buses running for the day. All drop-off routes will be split between the two buses. Please be patient, as there may be a slight delay in student drop-off as a result.
- There is no school for students on Friday, March 20th. Please plan accordingly.
Upcoming calendar reminders:
- The RMS SGA Spirit Week is coming! Join the fun from Monday, March 23rd through Friday, March 27th as we celebrate school pride with a week full of themed dress-up days and activities. Students and staff are encouraged to participate and show their school spirit each day. You can view the Spirit Week Flyer with themes here and get ready for a fun-filled week at school!
- On Monday, March 23rd, and Tuesday, March 24th, 7th-grade students will be attending the Finance Park field trip to Thomas Edison High School of Technology with their social studies teacher. Mrs. Malone's classes will attend on Monday, March 23rd, and Mrs. Braz's and Mr. Dimarco's classes will attend on Tuesday, March 24th. Please contact your child's social studies teacher with any questions about the field trip, or if you would like to volunteer to attend!
- Tuesday, March 24th, to Thursday, March 26th, there will only be two (2) activity buses running. All drop-off routes will still be serviced between both buses. Please be patient as you wait for your child, as it will mean a later drop-off time.
- The Bob Bucks store will be open to students during all grade level lunches on Wednesday, March 25th, 2025.
- Save the date for our next CNO at Shake Shack on Wednesday, March 25th, from 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Mention Donation Day at the register or use promo code DONATE on the Shack App or kiosk checkout.
- Students will be cleaning out their lockers after their grade level lunch on Thursday, March 26th. If necessary, please send your child(ren) with a large bag to bring items home and leave nothing in their lockers over Spring Break.
- Friday, March 27th, is Ridgeview's Advanced Band Adjudication at Paint Branch High School. Students will perform in front of a panel of judges, receive a score and comments, and then sight-read. After their performance, they will stay to watch two other orchestras perform and then return to school. Students will be leaving Ridgeview at 8:30 a.m. and should arrive back at the school around 12:30 p.m. When we return to the building, 7th graders will be given 30 minutes to eat lunch and then be dismissed to their 5th-period class. The 8th graders will report straight to their 5th-period class.
- Spring Picture Day is coming on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026, for all RMS students. Capture your child’s bright spring smile with beautiful, seasonal-inspired backgrounds that celebrate the colors and freshness of the season. Photos will be taken as three-quarter shots, meaning approximately three-quarters of your child’s body will be in the frame (typically cropped from mid-thigh to just above the head), creating a polished and timeless look. - Teacher Appreciation Week is in May, but the committee is already making preparations. We are looking for donations to raffle off to the teachers (sporting event tickets, restaurant gift cards, etc.) and for instructors to lead wellness day activities with teachers on Monday, May 4th (yoga, knitting, art, dance, etc.). Ridgeview is seeking a new parent volunteer to serve as our school’s NAACP Parent Representative through the Montgomery County Branch NAACP. This individual serves as a liaison between Ridgeview and the NAACP, attends periodic meetings, and helps share information and resources with our school community.If you are interested in filling this role and directly supporting equity, advocacy, and family engagement at Ridgeview, please contact the main office at 240-740-3330 or email me at Daniel_Miller@mcpsmd.org. - This is cancelled, resheduled date TBD-The Ridgeview Advanced Treble Choir and Chamber Choir will travel to Blair High School on Monday, March 16th, for the District II Middle School Adjudication. Both groups will perform for 3 judges and work with a clinician. All black concert attire is required for this performance. How to get involved? Host a table: We are looking for staff, students, families, and community members to host a table that represents your culture. Decorations, posters, artifacts, food samples, treats, trivia, photos, authentic dress, music, etc. is encouraged! PTSA is offering a $50 reimbursement per table. Perform: We are also looking for performances by families, community members, staff, or students. Sign up today!

RMS Recipe Book-Extended Submission Date!- April 6th, 2026
Before Winter Break, students learned about fall/winter traditional foodways from around the world and were encouraged to share a favorite recipe to the official RMS Recipe Book. We are compiling this recipe book to share at our third annual Cultural Heritage Night. Please add a family favorite recipe to the RMS Recipe book. There are two ways to submit a recipe. The FIRST way: Have your student log into their CANVAS classroom. Navigate to their grade level tile and go to Module "RMS Recipe Book". Follow directions from there. The SECOND way: Provide a paper copy that your student brings in and gives to their Bobcat Boost teacher, or email shannon_stoughton@mcpsmd.org. Be sure to include the following: Ingredients, Instructions, About this recipe and picture if possible. Submissions are due by Monday, April 6, 2026.

- April 15, previously scheduled as a non-instructional day for teacher grading and planning at the end of the marking period, will now be an early-release day for students.
- The marking period will still end on April 14 but grade reporting will be delayed until April 20.
- March 20 will remain a non-instructional day for students, per a Board of Education vote on February 19

Testing Updates
To ensure all students are well-prepared for the upcoming Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program.
(MCAP) ELA assessment scheduled for Monday, April 20th, Tuesday, April 21th, Wednesday, April 22th and Friday, April 23th.
(MCAP) Mathematics assessment scheduled for Tuesday, April 28th, and Wednesday, April 29th, all math classes will begin implementing weekly MCAP practice sessions.
