MCPS is planning a progressive realignment, with full implementation of proposed programs by 2031.

If approved, this will impact Grade 7 students- not Grade 8 students. 

Grade 8 students  will be able to go through the Choice process or apply for a regional/countywide program and be able to complete their choice at the assigned school beginning next year.

Below is a timeline visual of what this looks like for students as the proposed new six region process phases in  (purple) and the current one (blue) phases out (pending BOE approval).  This slide can be found in the presentation slides from the BOE meeting. 8th grade families can reach out to their counselor (Rachel_M_Greene@mcpsmd.org  [A-L] or Kristen_Ruffin@mcpsmd.org  [M-Z] ) if they have additional questions.
