Ms. Jeanni Chin, Principal

About Me:
I was born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in the wonderful city of Philadelphia. Growing up in Philly, I saw firsthand how incredibly powerful a diverse, close-knit community can be when everyone rallies behind their neighborhood kids. I originally moved here to attend the University of Maryland, but I chose to stay because I fell completely in love with teaching and the incredible students in this community.
Outside of school, my world revolves around my family. My husband and I actually met while snowboarding at Whistler Blackcomb in Vancouver, British Columbia, and today we have two wonderful children who are students in MCPS. As a family, our favorite thing to do together is hit the slopes and travel.
My journey in education started in the classroom as a math teacher at Springbrook High School. I loved helping students realize that they were capable of tackling tough problem-solving, even when it felt intimidating. Over the years, that passion led me into leadership roles where I could support other teachers, eventually helping to open Silver Creek Middle School as their first math content specialist. For the past seven years, I have served as the Assistant Principal at Hoover Middle School. Through every single one of those roles, my personal core philosophy has never changed: every child deserves a top-tier education, a safe place to learn, and adults in their corner who unconditionally believe in them.
