Attendance Matters!

Starting off right…Did you know that a child who misses 10% (2 days a month) of the school year is more likely to fall behind in school, as well as lose a sense of belonging. This is due to not being present during instruction, as well as developing friendships based on common experiences. As in previous years, Candlewood Elementary School will be focused on children receiving the best education, and we need your assistance by having your child(ren) attend school on a regular basis. It is also important that our students start the day together with their teacher and classmates.  We need your help in ensuring all children are in their classrooms no later than 9:00am.  We know that children get sick and that there are family emergencies, and those absences/tardies are considered excused when accompanied by a note. It is when the absences and tardies become chronic that children begin to develop cumulative gaps in learning and we see a direct impact on having a sense of belonging. If you have any questions or need support, please feel free to contact Mrs.Walsleben, Principal, Mrs. Fowle, Assistant Principal and/or Mrs. Hetrick, School Counselor.
